Competitive Compulsory Program

The Competitive Compulsory Program follows the Junior Olympic program, developed in the USA,  allowing the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.

Athletes in this program range in age from 8 to 13+, compete in Levels 2-4, and train between 6 and 12 hours a week.

Level  1-2 Program 1 - Ages 8-12

The first levels of gymnastics focus on rudimentary skills like jumping, stretching, rolls and simple dismounts. Girls will learn how to perform an arm circle, punch the springboard and straight jump on a mat for Level 1 vault. They also learn to perform a 2-foot pullover, a back hip circle, casting and a push away dismount on the uneven bars. Floor exercise includes forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, walks and jumps. These levels also include various basic stretches, walks and dismounts on the balance beam.

Gymnasts in this class will compete 2 invitational meets in Ottawa area.

Comp-Compulsary-Level3-1

Level  1-2 Program 2 - Ages 13+

Level 3-4 Program 1 - Ages 8-12

This Program helps to to expand on the basic skills gymnasts demonstrated in Level 1 and 2. Balance beam skills include partial handstands, running steps, pivot turns, split jumps, cartwheels and side-handstand dismounts. Girls will learn to do headstands, backbends, plus jumps and turns that are more advanced.

The athletes will also learn glide swings, pullovers and front hip circles on bars; leg swing mounts, pivots, more advanced jumps and acrobatic skills on floor. All athletes in these levels will compete the same routines.

Gymnasts in this class will compete 3 qualifiers meets in Ottawa and/or Toronto area and Ontario Championship for level 3-5, if they qualify.

Level 3-4 Program 2 - Ages 13+
